Symantec has warned of a worm targeting Yahoo Mail, dubbed JS.Yamanner@m. The worm exploits a vulnerability in Yahoo email to send a copy of itself to the user’s Yahoo address book.
Symantec has warned of a worm targeting Yahoo Maill, dubbed JS.Yamanner@m. The worm exploits a vulnerability in Yahoo email to send a copy of itself to the user’s Yahoo address book.
The worm starts functioning when a user opens his/her Yahoo email.
The worm is written in JavaScript.
According to Symantec, the worm cannot run on the latest version of Yahoo Mail Beta.
The worm is sent to the user through a HTML email containing JavaScript. Once a user opens the email, the worm exploits a vulnerability in Yahoo Mail to send itself to the user’s addressbook.
According to Symantec, the worm targets email address with @yahoo.com and @yahoogroups.com domains.
A user requires Rapid Release Defenitions with sequence number 55078 or above to detect the worm.
