64% of servers controlling spam traffic are located in Taiwan, according to a report by CipherTrust. The US accounts for 23% of such servers.

Additional findings include:

– In the past month, there is a 21% increase in zombie computers.

– There is a 20% increase in unwanted email traffic.

CipherTrust uses zombie computers to gather information on spam operations. The zombie computers do not relay spam or other malicious attacks to end-users. The computers collect messages from spammers who try to exploit computers and relay the information to the TrustedSource system.

CipherTrust’s TrustedSource system assigns a reputation score to each message. The system also classifies senders based on an analysis of each sender.
