That there simply isn’t enough time to accomplish all that needs doing to keep your business running smoothly. Lack of time tops one of the major stress factors in owning a small business.

* Do it
* Delete it
* Delegate it
* Defer it

Do It

Does something need done now?
Just focus on completing it. Block out time to finish your high priority project or task. Try doing harder or more complex activities during your peak performance period. Others find that doing this kind of task first before doing anything else, helps get them completed.

Delete It

Is it really that important?
If it’s not important or making a difference, quit doing it. Why waste your time on trivial tasks. Get in the habit of pitching and throwing away meaningless or outdated information immediately.

Delegate It

Is this the best use of my time?
The activity needs done but it’s a low priority task. Outsource it for someone else to do. This will free up your time to focus on high profit activities.

Defer It

Can this wait?
Ask yourself if this is the right time to devote to a particular activity. Make a rule that you won’t start working on another project until you finished the ones already started. Taking this approach will prevent work overload. Make sure you reserve time on your calendar for that deferred project.

What can you do, delete, delegate or defer so that you can experience more time for living your life and making your business easier?
