Phishers were mainly targeting international banking brands in the month of April, according to the Monthly Fraud Online Intelligence Report by RSA Security. 57% of all the banking brands targeted by phishing in April were non-US.


Phishers were mainly targeting international banking brands in the month of April, according to the Monthly Fraud Online Intelligence Report by RSA Security. 57% of all the banking brands targeted by phishing in April were non-US.

Of this, the UK accounted for 42% of banking brands targeted by phishers, Spain accounted for 26% and Italy accounted for 10%.

Other countries in the list include:

Canada: 10%

Germany: 6%

Netherlands: 6%

The report also revealed that 50% of non-US attacks are aimed at non-English speaking countries. Spain and Italy were the top countries in this list.

According to the report, 2 out of 3 phishing attacks in the world were hosted by the US. The rest were typically hosted in Europe or the Far East.

The number of brands targeted per month has 25% to 93 brands in April, compared to 127 brands in March.
