Home Broadband Users Increase from 74.3 Million to 95.5 Million
Active broadband users from home have increased from 74.3 million in February 2005 to 95.5 million in February 2006. Overall Internet penetration at home has reached 74%, and video sharing sites such as MSN Video, YouTube and Google Video, benefit the most, according to Nielsen/Netratings.

The findings of the study include:
Two-thirds of U.S. population who are active online are using broad band connection.
Web population using broad band connection has increased 28% year-over-year and it is the highest this year.
The sites which benefit from this broadband penetration are: Video Sharing Sites such as MSN Video, YouTube and Google Video.
Jon Gibs, senior director of media, Nielsen//NetRatings, said: “The “˜always on’ nature of a broadband connection allows the Internet to become more entrenched in consumers’ lives. In broadband consumers’ minds, activities such as checking account balances, downloading music, watching streaming video and checking email become just another application of the
PC rather than a separate activity that happens when they log on to the Internet”. [source]
