AOL Mapquest has announced the OpenAPI Developers Challenge and a cash prize of $1000 for ‘the most creative mashup that leverages the mapping and routing functionality of MapQuest OpenAPI’. The contest began on March 7 and the entries must be submitted by March 31.

“Entrants must be registered members of the OpenAPI Community to be eligible. The winning entry will push the mashup genre beyond merely plotting locations on a map, demonstrate some real usefulness to a broader, non commercial community and leverage the full set of tools available in OpenAPI with an emphasis on routing”.

“The winner receives a $1,000 cash prize, and a trip to the O’Reilly® Where 2.0â„¢ Conference in San Jose, CA, June 13-14 and an opportunity to demo the winning mashup at the Where 2.0 Where Fair. The winner will be announced in the OpenAPI blog on or around April 17th”. [source]
