Symantec has warned of Hotmatom and Maniccum IM worms. The worms spread on MSN and AOL IM networks and delete files.
Symantec has ranked both the worms as level 2 threats.
According to Symantec, the Hotmatom worm sends a link to copy itself to MSN Hotmail contacts. It then deletes files from A drive and C drive.
The Maniccum worm disables security-related applications on the host’s computer and opens a backdoor on the computer making it vulnerable to hijacking.
