IE Internet has released Virus Statistics for the month of February 2006. Bagle.D is the top prevalent Virus with 13.39% infections.

Bagle.D is the top prevalent Virus with 13.39% infections.
Ken O’Driscoll, technical director with IE Internet, said: “Bagle.DW looks like the new kid on the block. It spreads via email and peer-to-peer file sharing networks which probably explains the rapid growth. The virus disables traditional desktop-based anti-virus countermeasures so having a multi-tiered anti-virus strategy is advisable.” [Source]
Other Viruses in the Top 5 list were:
Netsky.P with 12.57% infections
Mytob.DY with 11.86% infections
Zafi.D with 11.68% infections and
Zafi.B with 10.16% infections.
IE Internet has also revealed that the rate of spam is 46.95% for February 2006.
The main sources of spam were:
United States with 34.97%
Republic of Korea with 6.61%
China with 6.51%
Australia with 4.77%
Europe with 4.29% and
United Kingdom with 3.06%.
