Yahoo Japan will use a new system at their auction site in December. The system will protect bidders from being cheated by detecting fraudulent offers.

The system uses a database of past cases of fraudulent activities and detects such activities at the earlier stage before the sale can be completed.

“If a seller with no record of submitting merchandise to the auction site offers a large number of laptop computers, the system will show the site’s operators that the offer has a high probability of being fraudulent.” [Source]

Yahoo Japan has invested $840,000 on the new system which has been developed by Finance Engineering Services, Tokyo. Yahoo Japan has a team of specialists monitoring the site on a 24 hour basis.
