AOL ad revenues have increased but the number of subscribers has declined. The subscription revenues have declined from $2.14 billion to $175 million.

The ad revenues of AOL has steadily grown over recent times, despite a decline in subscribers. AOL’s ad revenues rose by $71 million compared to the year before. Advertising.com added a further $31 million to its revenue, and revenues from its search tool grew by another $31 million.

AOL lost 2.6 million U.S. subscribers in the last 12 months. It now has 20.1 million subscribers. Last year the subscription revenues were at $2.14 billion and this year it is at $175 million.

Dick Parsons, Chairman and CEO of Time Warner, said, “It’s a priority for us to accelerate the transition of AOL to an audience-based business. We think AOL has what it needs to get there on its own, but we think that either through an enhanced relationship on the technology side, or an enhanced relationship to deliver more traffic to sites AOL controls, we can accelerate that transition”.
