Alex Fitzpatrick says, “The Federal Trade Commission slapped data collection firm Spokeo with an $800,000 fine on Tuesday for collecting details about people’s lives and selling them to would-be employers without protecting those individuals’ privacy.

It’s the first FTC fine involving personal data collected online and sold to potential employers”.
