A Solo Ad is an ad sent in your behalf by the owner of a mailing list. Many list owners are willing to send an ad to their list (or a portion of their list) for a fee.
Solo ads are offered by many online marketers (sellers of ads) to other marketers (buyers of ads). The ads are called solo ads since the email with the ad has no other content other than the ad; it is sent alone or “solo” in the email.
Usually the fee is based on how many people on their list click on your link in the message they send. The number of clicks is guaranteed. Usually a few extra clicks are delivered because the list owner doesn't know precisely how many clicks you will receive from a mailing. So if the list owner knows the usual percent of clicks is 50% and you buy a 50 click ad, they may send the ad to 125 people, rather than 100, to make sure they don't under-deliver.
