MarketingProfs has published a new episode of the Marketing Smarts podcast ‘A B2B Marketing Deep Dive on AI Foundations, the Future, and More’ featuring Christopher Penn.

George B. Thomas says, “In Episode 533 of Marketing Smarts featuring Christopher Penn, he and host George B. Thomas kick things off by discussing just that.

“The thing that I am most concerned about with all of the AI models….is that these models are trained on the corpus of human content,” Christopher says. “That’s how they do the things that they do. That also means that they have inherited all of our biases, all of our prejudices, all of these other things.”

That includes the tendency of Open AI to have more a positive association with European American names than African American names, for example.

“Let’s say you have a marketing automation system, and you have your first name and last name of your prospect, and you’re going to generate some marketing copy semi-automated to send out some stuff,” he continues. “What is that model going to do if the prospect’s name is Latisha? What is that model going to do if the prospect’s name is George? What’s the model going to do if the prospect’s name is Hiroki?”

It follows, therefore, that a human should always be checking the AI’s output for content that is problematic or just plain wrong. Humans are good to have around for things like that.”
