A recent survey published on PRWeek has found that people feel that there is a need of guidelines to follow when it comes to Influencer marketing.

Some 71% people believe that there are no rules around the use of influencers. 44% stated that it is damaging to society. 61% said that the influencers don’t have to disclose that they have been paid to talk about a product.

Sharing more insights from the survey, Ian Griggs says, “An overwhelming majority of those surveyed, 88 per cent, believed they should be informed if people are being paid to promote products, but 61 per cent felt brands were not being transparent about their use of influencers.

As for future regulation, 71 per cent said the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) should do more to enforce disclosure and 56 per cent told the survey that both brands and influencers should be punished if they do not disclose their relationships”.
