A recent eMarketer report had revealed that only 6% of firms are completely prepared for the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

AdWeek has posted about a Forrester report which states the around 15% marketers are fully compliant with the GDPR. The report mentions that less than half have audited their data.

Forrester analyst Lori Wizdo has been quoted saying: “Maybe we’re going to play some catch-up for ignoring some good practices that should have been adopted long ago. These are not unmeetable rules. They’re not unrealized rules. And it’s a challenge that needs to be accomplished, but it’s not impossible”.

AdWeek’s Marty Swant says, “The most common challenge is making sure past and current data is compliant with GDPR guidelines, with 89 percent reporting the task as either a “major challenge” or “somewhat of a challenge.” Marketers also said they’re challenged by assessing third-party data collectors and processors, communicating specific purposes of data and balancing user experience with asking for consent for collecting data”.
