Mobile conversion rates remain low for e-commerce. In 2016, PC-based “traditional” conversion rate was 4% as against Smartphone conversion rates at 1.3%.

Econsultancy columnist Steve Borges has posted an article detailing the current status of mobile conversation rates and what retailers need to know.

Describing the mobile benchmark, Borges says, “The first step has to be to understand the scale of the problem – to look at mobile conversion not in isolation, but in the kind of meaningful context that provides an answer the question: “How big a problem is mobile conversion for this retailer?”

The work we’ve done in this area at Biglight has generated a huge amount of data around customer behaviour on mobile – and, as a result, we can benchmark performance in aggregate and in micro-conversions from arrival on the site through to checkout”.
