Michael Campbell has released the latest issue of:

Internet Marketing Secrets

Yesterday afternoon while in my favorite dim sum restaurant with my family, I got a “blocked” call on my cell phone. The noob wondered if my Dynamic Media Podcasts were fresh content, or repackaged downloads that they heard months ago.

How they got my private cell phone number is one thing. But to ask such a question of my integrity, while eating lunch, when I’m sitting with family… on a Saturday afternoon?!?!?

How rude… to even consider that would I repackage and sell old podcasts and try to pass them off as new! Is that what internet marketing has come to? Is this the level of trust out there?

“Yes, its all fresh. All brand new content that’s never been heard before.” I replied calmly. (Back in the old days ya woulda smacked somebody like this with a swift backhand glove and drew pistols at dawn. 😉

So to ward off any further family time interruptions, let me share this FAQ (for people who use the whois database like a phone directory) and the 218 unanswered questions that remain in my inbox.

And it’s not a rant. There’s plenty of good affiliate marketing advice in here. So read it, even if you don’t plan on buying the podcasts. You won’t regret it.

DYNAMIC MEDIA PODCAST FAQs

What exactly is affiliate marketing?

Ok, fair question. I’ll give a quick summary. Those of you who know the answer can skip to
the next question.

Affiliate marketing is all about the people who put the deals together. It’s the people who bring together the buyer and seller and make a good commission for doing so.

It means getting traffic and persuading them to take action. That action could be signup, a subscriber, a lead, some contact information, a form filled out, an application, a decision, a phone call, a sale, or even a donation.

If your persuasion skills caused the visitor to take the desired course of action, it should result in a commission in you. The more traffic you get, and the better you get at sales, persuasion and conversion, the moremoney you’ll make as an affiliate. That’s affiliate marketing in a nutshell.

Why affiliate marketing?

It’s the easiest way to makemoney online. There’s a very low entry cost. There’s no physical products, stock or inventory to worry about. There’s no customer service. And you have the freedom to work when you choose on projects you like.

If you’re not doing affiliate marketing, you should give it a go. Leave the heavy lifting to the people shipping the products. All you need to do is bring the buyer and seller together and get a commission for doing so.

Why are you producing this podcast series?

Because you told me that you want it. Over 300 of you participated in the annual survey. These are the top 12 things that you want to know more about.

1) Affiliate Marketing
2) Social Media
3) Traffic Generation
4) Linking Strategies
5) Readership & ListBuilding
6) Social News & Bookmarking
7) Persuasion & Conversion
8) Blogging & Site Creation
9) Keyword Research
10) Search Engine Optimization
11) Copy and Article Writing
12) PPC and Advertising

I already did two podcasts on Social Media. One with Howie Schwartz and another with Colin McDougall. I already did nine podcasts on Traffic Generation, with three guests per show. They’re all freely available at this time.

Why do we have to pay for your podcasts now?

Because I want to compensate the guests through an affiliate program. Is that so wrong?

I want to make it worth their while. I want to get real nuggets. Precious gems and gold. Their best kept secrets.

Here’s a hint. You aren’t going to get that level of participation, if all you’re offering warm fuzzies and a pat on the back.

If you want performance, you gotta pay for a ticket. If you want freebies, its called radio. You have to put up with ads and commercials.

This is an entirely different species, hence the new brand name, Dynamic Media Podcasts. This is paid content. You gotta buy a ticket to hear these songs.

The Internet Marketing Secrets podcasts and newsletter are like radio. Freely available, but supported by ads and commercials.

Why is the PDF version double the price?

Transcriptions are very expensive. Especially when using the best transcription service in the business.

Cheap services won’t put up with all the industry lingo like SEO, PPC, URLs, and zillions of domain names. You gotta pay a premium if you expect any degree of accuracy.

Second is editing the podcasts. Yes, even though the transcribers are the best, mistakes are inevitable.

Third is the layout of the PDF. All these things take double the time and effort of the audio alone. And hey, if you can get 3.5 hours of audio transcribed for under 50 bucks… all the power to ya… go for it.

– – – – –

Will the future podcasts series be this expensive?

Well, first let me say… I don’t think 50 bucks is expensive for 3.5 hours of exclusive content. If all six guests and myself charged a modest 200 an hour, that’s like 700 bucks of advice for only 50. So in terms of value, it’s a pretty big deal.

But to answer your question. No, the first one is more expensive because we are establishing the principles. With six guests and myself, all full time affiliate marketing professionals, you get a good cross section of advice.

This first one is like a 20,000 foot view. Stick to the fundamentals. Learn the principles and strategies. Then you’ll be ready to go and apply the tactics.

Future podcasts will focus more on tactical methodologies and be in the 30 dollar range, but whether they get done or not depends on you.

It’s like a pilot for a TV show. You know… a television program made to test audience reaction
before they produce a series?

If it gets the ratings it runs for a season. If not, they kill it. Only difference is… here you vote
with your wallet.

So what I’m saying is, if I take the time to create a product, based on what you told me in the survey, and few of you buy it, then I’m certainly not going to proceed with the remainder of the series in the list. Or in other words… it’s totally up to you.

– – – – –

Why audio format?

Because its the easiest way to learn something, even while doing something else, like walking, driving or cleaning the house.

You see, it’s not enough to listen to the podcasts. You have to know these principles and have them in your mind at all times. The only way to that, is through repetition of the message.

You must listen to the podcasts three times in the first week. Then listen at least once a week for two more weeks. Then a couple more times after that.

What you’re doing is moving the information from recall memory, into long term memory. That way you don’t try to remember, you just know.

As Dr. John Media tells us in “Brain Rules” you must repeat to remember. Remember to repeat.

You could get the transcript and mark it up. But I doubt if you’d read it the minimum seven times it takes to park it in long term memory.

What do I do? I listen to audio courses on my iPod several times, and make voice notes on my cell phone. When I get home from my walk, I type out my notes, or have the transcription service do it for me.

– – – – –

I’ve heard interviews with some of these people before. Why should I pay for these?

Interviews for freebie podcasts are one thing, there’s a lot of fluff in-between the nuggets of info. These recordings are pure gold. The guests were not allowed to get off track.

I usually seem like a nice guy, but in reality, each conversation was cleverly guided into persuading each guest to give you maximum value.

Moowa ha ha haaaa! 😉

Seriously, I’m tired of all the crap info out there. Written by ghost writers, pimped by gurus. The
people on this podcast series are the real deal.

I got 7.5 pages of notes. Things that I didn’t know. Market research tools that I didn’t know existed. Online tools to judge the competition. Landing page strategies. PPC ideas.

The list is… well… not endless, but 7.5 pages of fresh ideas… new tips for me to try… and I’ve
been affiliate marketing since 1998.

– – – – –

I’m an experienced info marketer, will I get anything out of these podcasts?

Yes, for less than 50 bucks you get to hear the PPC Ninja. This is an exclusive interview with someone who’s never been interviewed before.

He earns more in a single month than most people do in a year. And until now, he was strictly under the radar.

In the podcast he reveals one tip that’s the bomb. He types this one little thing into any search
engine and can totally reverse engineer his competition. That one tip alone is worth 10 times the cost of the podcasts.

– – – – –

Are the Dynamic Media Podcasts fresh content? Are these new and unique perspectives, never released before, or were they part of your freebie podcasts that I’ve already heard?

Yes, these podcasts are fresh and unique.

The podcast series you’re thinking of is called Traffic Generation. All three of those, featuring nine different guests, are still available for download. If you liked those, you’ll love these.

The Dynamic Media series is totally new. This first series is all about these six super affiliates, who practice affiliate marketing on a daily basis.

It’s not conjecture, theory or outdated methods.

These are fundamental strategies that are proven to work. They are bursting with inside tips that you’ve never heard before.

They tell you how to research the market. How to pick favorite products and services. What keywords to target. How to bring the idea to market. And how to sell it online. (Especially insightful are the tools they use to accomplish each task.)

They detail the fundamentals, but each interview goes way beyond that into some very clever
techniques. I’m really surprised at the quantity of tips, and quality of the ideas they share. It’s very enlightening and worthwhile getting in my opinion.

– – – – –

Principles, methods, strategies, tactics, blah, blah, aren’t they all the same? What’s the difference?

Methods are tactical. They are systems and checklists. They teach you HOW to do something.
Sound principles lead to strategies. They teach you WHAT to do.

Or put another way… “The person that knows HOW to do something will always have a job. The person who knows WHAT to do will always be his boss.”

In the Affiliate Marketing Strategies podcasts I teach you WHAT to do. This is the foundation.
The fundamental core. The principles and proven strategies.

After you know the the principles, you can apply any method you choose and you will succeed.

“As to methods there may be a million, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles
can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, while ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson – 1836

– – – – –

I tried Bob, Fred and Sally’s methods of affiliate marketing and they didn’t work. What makes yours any better?

There are hundreds of step by step training methods for affiliates. At least a dozen just popped into mind. But without principles and strategies, affiliate marketing doesn’t work.

The reason why some people fail is because they apply methods without principles. So no matter how much they go at it, they are doomed to fail. They understand how to go through the motions and keep busy, but they don’t succeed.

You’ve all met the whiner and complainer at every seminar. They’ve tried EVERYTHING, but nothing seems to work.

When I ask them why they’re in a niche to begin with, they don’t have a clue. Do they have intimate knowledge of it? Do they know or associate with the people in that niche?

That’s right kids. At the heart of any niche are ordinary everyday people with needs and wants.
And if you can’t communicate with them on their level, in their terms, you’ve got no business being in that niche.

Did your market research say it would be profitable? That’s the second thing you should do.

Is there any buzz or activity in the niche? Are there seasonal trends? Are there any trade magazines on the topic. Is it in the Internet Retailer Top 500?

Did you check Amazon reviews, ePinions, Technorati, topic clouds, Google Trends, AffSpy, EBay Hot Trends, Consumer Reports, MSN’s Commercial Intent Tool?

Did you check out the SRDS (Standard Rate and Data Service) Direct Marketing List at the local library for demographics and psychographics of the consumers in that market?

Did you test the market with PPC or do any media buys before developing a web site? Did you prove that the market would be profitable? Do people actually buy that type of product or service online?

These are the fundamentals. Without proper strategies in place, tactics don’t matter.

The single reason why most people I train succeed is because they learn the fundamentals, principles and strategies. Then and ONLY then, are they permitted to proceed with methodologies and tactics.

You cannot do it the other way round. It doesn’t work. It never has. It never will.

“Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” ~ Sun Tzu 221 BC

I thought Jerry West was an SEO guy. What’s he doing on your podcasts as an affiliate marketing guru?

I figured this might come up. Truth is, few people outside Jerry’s inner circle know the whole story.

It was the summer of 2001. I told him to fire all his clients and do SEO for himself. I told him to
use his SEO skills to drive traffic through affiliate programs instead of doing it for clients.

He looked at me like I was nuts. A creature from outer space. No… more like I was a complete idiot.

He resisted my advice for five years.

The end result? Why not let Jerry tell you in his own words?

“”Many people ask me for advice on doing SEO for clients. I tell them straight out, fire all of your
clients. Do SEO on your own sites and focus on affiliate programs.

They often look at me like I am crazy. They have a firm grip on their client security blanket and don’t realize that holding onto it keeps them where they are. They will never reach their full potential.

Funny, I shake my head at them, thinking they’re crazy… but I then remember that I was in the exact place they are seven years ago.

It took me five years to realize that the same advice was given to me – which I thought was the
worst advice I had ever heard – was actually the best advice I have ever been given professionally.

Who gave me that advice? Michael Campbell.

So don’t wait five years to try this. Do yourself a favor and fire all your SEO clients. Start affiliate
marketing and do the SEO for yourself.

In the first month of being completely client-less I made moremoney than I ever had. I was happier.

My family noticed the reduced stress in me, and I did too. I haven’t looked back since.”” ~ Jerry West, Author of the SEO Revolution Newsletter
