How Can I Make Money With Videos Online?

Today I got asked a question that I get asked a lot. It’s about how to make full motion video for the Internet. When people see my Multimedia Profits Revealed website they immediately hope it will make them expert videographers. So that they can add full motion videos to their websites and make money selling their expertise.

Of course, Multimedia Profits Revealed is not about full motion video. It’s about how to do screencast videos. Big difference. Screencast videos means you’ll be making videos of what can be put on your computer’s monitor. And full motion video means you can use a camcorder to capture action away from your computer.

If you want to show people how to correct their golf swing you would use full motion video. If you want to show how to use a software program you would use screencast video.

Before we go further let me explain about my background. I’ve been a video producer for over fifteen years. Yes, I made real videos for sale a long time before I ever got involved with screencast video. In fact, I showed professional videographers how to get into low cost high quality digital video editing back in 1997.

Now, how did I become an expert on full motion video. Even before I decided to start my own video production company I spent eighteen months learning all I could from two different video producers. I then got an Emmy winning member of the Directors Guild of America (that’s the organization that all movie and video directors belong to) to teach me from the ground up. It took me nearly two years from the time I started until I was producing quality videos.

Of course today there are a few “video experts” online who will teach you how to become a videographer by watching a few hours of their DVDs or CDs. When you are finished you will have all you need to make money producing videos for the Internet.

But becoming a videographer in your best interests?

We all know that creating a product is only one part of making profits online. You need to market your product before you are going to make any money online.

So should you focus on learning how to be a videographer or a marketer?

Do you have the time to do both?

If you already know how to market then maybe your best step is to find someone who is already a videographer and joint venture with them. Let them make the videos and you can market them.

One of the most time consuming steps in video making is editing. In my first video, working with my director friend, it took us one month to take thirteen hours of tape to create a 40-minute video.

Believe me, it would have been much more cost productive to have a professional videographer doing all that work while I came up with the marketing plans.

Except I wanted to become a video producer! So I spent the time and effort to learn this trade.

What do you want to become, a videographer or a Internet marketer or businessperson?

If you answer this question correctly then your next step is to find good videographers.

One source is the yellow pages in your telephone book. Look up under video.

Another source is your local public or community access television company. In our small county of about 45,000 people we have a local assess television group that is run by several county organizations, one of which is the Library. In fact, you can check out cameras and edit your video through our library.

How about your local schools, community colleges and universities? Often they will have a media course and will have students learning how to produce videos.

Still at a loss? How about checking in the wedding area. We have a number of videographers who cover weddings here.

When you find a videographer make sure you view some of their work. And if you decide to use them start with a very small project. See how that turns out before committing to any big expensive projects. And see it they will work as a joint venture to keep your out of pocket costs down.

Believe me, there are a number of ways to create videos without you becoming a videographer and investing all the money and time in equipment and learning how to use it.
