A phishing scam aimed at MySpace.com was fixed by Websense. The scam tricked users into visiting a webpage similar to MySpace and asked for personal information.
The link with the malicious webpage was sent to instant messaging users, including AIM. The link was sent from the user’s contact list, asking the user to click on the link to view photos.
The link lead to a page similar to MySpace.com. Once the user entered the necessary information, he/she was taken transparently to the real MySpace.com page. The information entered was then sent to a hacker.
Ross Paul, senior product manager at WebSense, said: “But a hacker then has access to personal information stored by MySpace, such as someone’s address and birthday, which could be used to open a bank account.” [Source]
