Microsoft has restructured its Platforms and Services Division and has formed 8 new groups. The aims of the restructuring include new growth opportunities related to online advertising.


Microsoft has restructured its Platforms and Services Division, PSD, and has formed 8 new groups. The aims of the restructuring include new growth opportunities related to online advertising.

According to Kevin Johnson, co-president of PSD the goals were three fold.

– “Advance Microsoft’s software plus services and Live strategy

– Increase Microsoft’s agility in delivering innovation to customers

– Target new growth opportunities related to Windows Live services, online advertising and solutions in emerging markets” [source]

According to the press release, Microsoft considers the following as critical to their long term success:

Expand the capabilities of our Windows Live platform.

Extending the reach and impact with and to advertisers.

Continuing to enhance search offering.

Build out operational infrastructure.
