Google Accounts for 74.67% of the UK search engine market in February 2006, according to WebSideStory. WebSideStory revealed that Google referred almost 3 out of every 4 search engine visitors.

Rand Schulman, Chief Marketing Officer for WebSideStory, said: “Even more so in the U.K. than in the U.S., when people think of search, they think of Google. This has large implications for U.K. marketers, whose search engine marketing and optimization strategies should be Google-centric.” [Source]

Yahoo accounted for 9.3% of the search engine market, followed by MSN (5.46%), AOL (4.21%) and Ask Jeeves (2.28%).

The study focused on the percentage of UK internet users who used a search engine to reach another site on the internet.
