Europe online advertising has exceeded €4 billion, that is nearly $4.77 billion, in 2005. The UK has accounted for 35.9%, France 27.3%, and Germany 22%, according to the data from 14 countries collected by IAB teams.

Danny Meadows-Klue, IAB Europe’s Chief Executive and the lead analyst behind the research, said: “The dominance of the three largest markets continues, but total online spend and online’s market share are rising fast in all countries. Interviews with national teams have revealed significant “˜channel shift’ as online’s role is upweighted in the media mix”. [source]

For the research, collated by Digital Strategy Consulting, data was provided by 14 trade associations.

The countries covered in the report are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and UK.
