AOL has launched a Beta version of the AOL web portal in Chinese. The site is targeted at Chinese Americans and the Chinese speaking community in America.


AOL has launched a Beta version of the AOL web portal in Chinese. The site is targeted at Chinese Americans and the Chinese speaking community in America.

The website offers Web search, blogs, email and news from North America, Europe and Asia.

The site will also offer 20 hours of video content and programming, including free full length movies, episodes of popular TV shows in China and webcasts of sports events in China.

David Liu, Vice President and General Manager, AOL.com, said: By creating this free language-specific portal, we can better serve the millions of people in the United States who want access to features like e-mail, search, entertainment, and news in one place, in Chinese.” [Source]

Free features of the Chinese language web portal include:

• AOL Web Mail and AIM
• Video programming for free with hours of content and entertainment in Chinese including
1. Full length movies from China.
2. Full length episodes of TV series from China.
3. Full length TV programs from China.
4. Webcasts of sportsevents in China including news magazines, talk shows and variety shows.
• AOL Search
• Blogs integrated from the Weblogs media network, including Source and Engadget.
• News updates every hour with free text and images covering Chinese language news from North America, Europe and Asia.

The site is available in simplified and traditional Chinese.
