Symantec is going to acquire IMlogic, a company which makes enterprise software for IM. IMlogic’s threat detection and removal for IM will be integrated into the Symantec Security Response service.

IMlogic’s threat detection and removal for IM will be integrated into the Symantec Security Response service.

IMlogic makes enterprise software for IM. It provides solutions to control and secure public and enterprise IM networks. It also ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate governance policies.

Enrique Salem, senior vice president of Security Products and Solutions at Symantec, said, “With the best-of-breed instant messaging management and compliance software from IMlogic, Symantec will be the first and only vendor to offer a complete security and archiving solution to help customers manage all their messaging requirements.” [Source]

IMlogic and Symantec have partnered in the past to deliver solutions to protect IM from threats such as spyware and malware and spam delivered through IM. Enterprise Vault, the email and content archiving offering from Symantec is integrated with IMlogic’s IM Manager since 2002.

After the acquisition, components of IMlogic technology will be integrated with the Enterprise Vault archiving solution.
