Andrew Klein, manager of threat center at MailFrontier, said, “Holidays are an excellent hook for scams. The real problem with phishing e-mail is that they really look like e-mail that you would expect to receive. They will have words like Christmas and Jesus in them, which makes them a little harder to filter out” [Source]

For example, spammers sent an email that appears to come from eBay. The mail has the message “Christmas is coming!” and guides the reader into clicking on www.ebaychristmas.net. The receivers of the email are made to believe that the link has tips on “˜seasonal selling’. [Source]
