Google leads as a search engine and is ahead of Yahoo, MSN, AOL and Ask Jeeves. In October search queries grew to more than 5.1 billion and nearly half that population, about 48%, used Google.


Google still leads as a search engine according to Nielsen//NetRatings. In October search queries grew to more than 5.1 billion and nearly half that population used Google.

The increase in search queries compared to five months ago is 15%. Goolge gets the largest market share, about 48% and continues to be on top of all other search engines.

Ask Jeeves is the fastest growing search player out of the top search engines, Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL. Ask Jeeves has increased 77 percent in search volume.

Ken Cassar, director of strategic analysis, Nielsen//NetRatings, said, “Search volume continues to increase and is generated consistently among the “˜Big Three’, growing their collective market share. Google, in particular, continues to find itself in an enviable position, enjoying dominant market share and very strong growth.” [source]
