Yahoo has partnered with Seven Network, an Australian media network. The partnership will allow advertisers to buy advertising packages for both online and offline media.


Yahoo has partnered with Seven Network, an Australian media network.

Yahoo and Seven Network will form a new 50-50 holding company which will combine Yahoo Australia and NZ with Seven’s online assets, television and magazine content. The new company along with a new name is expected to launch in January.

The partnership will allow consumer content, such as in news, sports, entertainment, games, music, travel, etc, to be available across online, mobile and IPTV. The partnership will also allow advertisers to buy advertising packages for both online and offline media.

Terry Semel, Chairman and chief executive officer, Yahoo! Inc, said, “Yahoo! and Seven have very complementary businesses and brands, and we see this as a tremendous opportunity to build a leadership position in Australia.” [Source]

The Australian online advertising market was almost half a billion dollors in the financial year 2004/2005. It is expected to grow 21% per year in the next five years, according to Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Yahoo is also going to announce a partnership with Six Apart.

Yahoo will allow users to create blogs using Six Apart’s Movable Type software. The blogs will be hosted on the Yahoo Small Business hosting service.

The Movable Type tool will be available to users who purchase a Yahoo Web Hosting account for $11.95 per month.
