Non-travel consumer expenditure between Nov 1 and Dec 2 have reached $9.75 billion as opposed to $7.84 billion in 2004.

The category sales for this year’s holiday shopping include 59% in Sports and Fitness, 50% in Furniture, Appliance and Equipment, 37% in Apparel and Accessories, 36% in Home and Garden, and 30% in Video Games, Consoles and Accessories.

Gian Fulgoni, Chairman, comScore Networks, said, “Increased experience and comfort with buying online has translated to consumers being willing to make purchases in a wider variety of product categories and to be willing to make purchases of products at higher price points.”[Source]

ComScore predicts that consumer online expenditure for the entire holiday season of Nov / Dec 2005 will exceed $19 billion.
