In-Stat has predicted that Asia’s VOIP Services will reach $10 billion by 2009. The report has included analysis and forecasts for major Asian VOIP markets for 2009.

“Currently, long distance calls, initiated from either traditional PSTN terminals or full IP local loops but carried over IP backbones to recipients’ local networks, create the bulk of VoIP business in Asia, providing for 85.4% of total revenue in 2004” [Source]

According to the report, there were 8.7 million VOIP lines in Asia in 2004. The revenue for 2004 was around $5.5 billion.

In Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore, people prefer the VOIP platform to make long distance calls.
