Google Ireland Holdings Ltd. has spent $120.5 (€102.5 million ) million on Research and Development in its first year business year of operations.

Google Ireland Holdings Ltd. receives royalty payments from Google’s operations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

A spokesperson for the company, said, “Our effective tax rate beginning in the first quarter of 2005, and for the foreseeable future thereafter, is expected to be significantly lower than our effective tax rate of 39 per cent in 2004.” [Source]

The Irish operations have helped Google save almost €100 million a year in taxes. The company’s tax rate has dropped from 39% to 31%.
