Microsoft is planning to strengthen its anti-phishing internet software. Microsoft has made agreements with data providing companies Cyota, Internet Identity, and MarkMonitor to update information on websites suspected and confirmed of phishing activity.

Information about suspected websites will be collected by these companies and added to the data that Microsoft started collecting earlier, in collaboration with WholeSecurity Inc..

Cyota, Internet Identity and MarkMonitor have databases related to online banking security.

“The information acquired from the new sources will deepen phishing protection offered by the MSN Search Toolbar and the upcoming Windows Internet Explorer 7, as well as SmartScreen e-mail filter, to provide greater protection from scams using MSN Hotmail and Windows Live Mail.” [Source]
