Yahoo and Tivo will combine services to connect Yahoo’s online services to Tivo’s set-top boxes. Tivo users will be able to acces Yahoo’s TV listings and record TV shows. Tivo’s set-top boxes have the additional facility to connect to the internet.

In the future, Tivo users will also be able to access images that have earlier been stored on Yahoo! Photos, local weather reports and traffic information from the Yahoo site.

David Katz, Yahoo’s head of entertainment and sports programming, said, “Yahoo! is the leading entertainment destination on the Internet with millions of monthly visitors seeking relevant information about their favorite television programs.

We are excited to further our mission of delivering what consumers want, when, how and where they want it.” [Source]

Tivo sells its set-top boxes for $50 with a $12.95 a month service fee.
