Spammers have started attacking through splogs, spam blogs. Splogs use an approach similar to email spams. Splogs link users to websites such as online gambling.

The most common method spammers use is to create a fake blog with links to such unwanted websites. Another method is to create link-spam, which post unrelated comments on blog discussion topics and have links to unwanted links.

Splogging is a security risk to blog webpages that accept HTML posts from users.

Graham Cluley, of Sophos, said, “If you allow people to post comments on your blog, not only might they link to a malicious Web site, but they can post malicious code on your Web site.

Although blog providers are developing splog filters similar to those used for spam, Cluley says the failsafe solution is for blog keepers to moderate the comments their readers post.” [Source]
