Google has revamped Google Catalogs. The beta version of the new service is useful for searching and browsing through mail-order catalogs online.

Google has made the catalogs searchable and these include “thousands of scanned mail-order catalogs, from industrial adhesives to designer clothing and gourmet food”.

“Google’s enormous user base performs more than 150 million searches a day, so your catalog will be seen by customers it would take millions of dollars and years to find through traditional means. And remember that these users are actively looking for the products you sell.” [source]

Google had started this beta version in 2001. Google Milestones has reported, under 2001 achievements, “Online shopping took a leap forward with the beta launch of Google Catalog Search, which made it possible for Google users to search and browse more than 1,100 mail order catalogs that previously had been available only in print.”

A revamped beta version is available now for use.

Those who search for catalogues can also add catalogues to Google’s data base by mailing the catalogue to the following address:

Google Catalogs
171 Main St. #280A
Los Altos, CA 94022
