Voice on the Net, VON, Coalition formed by Voice Over Internet Protocol, VOIP, Companies have launched a new initiative to advance regulatory policies.

Leading VOIP companies have launched a new initiative under the banner of Von Coalition that will “resist the erection of regulatory barriers that could stall VoIP while actively advancing a policy framework that allows VoIP to deliver its many benefits”. [source]

The VON Coalition addresses many issues, such as the availability of emergency services (911), and law enforcement. The VON Coalition stresses that such issues can be addressed without restricting VOIP. It stresses that policy makers should not apply normal telecommunication rules to the VOIP which would minimize its benefits.

Some of the members of the Coalition are: AT&T, Callipso, IceNet, Intel, and Point One.
