Google, Yahoo and other search engines run public service ads as part of Search Engine Marketing [SEM] community’s efforts to help disaster victims.

Google, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves, AOL.com and MSN participate in the SEM care program to assist the disaster victims of Hurricane Katrina by running public service ads.

According to their website, ‘SEMcares.com exists as a focal point to rally the “SEM” (Search Engine Marketing) community to help those in need by using our “SEO” (Search Engine Optimization) and “SEM” skills to generate awareness and financial aid to disasters and worthy causes by delivering search engine visitors to deserving organization pages and sites.’

Omnicom’s ad agency GSD&M has created disaster-relief online ads which will run in time and space donated by media.

In addition to making donations of their own, search engines like Google and Yahoo are helping the victims by running public service ads.
