The Insanity of Waiting For The Perfect 'Business Bible'

So you've realised every business requires a sort of document. A document you could call your business bible.

And you've been waiting for the right moment. The right content. The right planetary alignment perhaps.

Well, perhaps your wait has been a little insane.

Because there is no perfect bible.

Stop for a moment and look at the human body

Which is the most important part of your body?

Which part is the core?

Is it your heart? Or your brain? Or your kidney? Or your lungs? Or perhaps your liver?

Someone in history saved us a lot of trouble by choosing the heart

The heart's kinda important, but no way is it the most important.

But someone in history just chose it. Possibly because they thought it was the most important organ.

But we know better. We know that there is no most important organ.

So the heart became the 'bible', the central focus point of our body'.

It became romanticised

It actually encompassed our emotions (we talk about a person having more heart--when in fact they have more 'brain).

It found itself ingrained in popular music (Take good care of my heart).

The heart got prominence in cartoons. In illustrations.

And if you were to isolate the one thing; the one organ that most people associate with humans, they'll say 'heart'.

Which as we know, is rubbish.

The heart is indeed important, but c'mon--is it really the most important? No it isn't.

And neither is the product or service you have right now.

But you can't wait for the perfect document

You have to document the systems you have right now, and put them in a format that can be consumed by your customers.

This format may be text. It may be audio. It may be video. Or just a report of sorts.

When we started up in the year 2002, we had the 'Brain Audit'

And the Brain Audit wasn't even the Brain Audit. It was just a seminar I'd done for about 10 people. One of many seminars.

Yet we chose it to become the 'heart' of our business

We elevated it to the importance and status it enjoys today, simply by focusing on the 'Brain Audit'. (For example: You can't do any of the courses from Article Writing, Copywriting, Info-Products etc., unless you've read the Brain Audit).

And as you give your product or service the prominence it requires, something strange (and wonderful happens),suddenly you realise that your offering has dozens of applications.

Brain audit can be used for sales. It can be used for websites. For presentations. For dozens of applications.

People wait too long for the alignment of the stars...

You can't afford to wait.

You have to run with what you have now. The information you have right now could be the lungs of your business. Or the brain. Or the kidney.

You have to do what someone in history did so well. What you need to do is make your current service or product (whatever it is) the 'heart' of your company.

Give it the prominence it requires. And it will become your 'bible.'

And then, once you've got mastery over that one thing--and are the expert in that one thing, you can always connect the one thing to everything else.

Like the heart connects to the brain; to the lungs; to the liver; to the veins; to popular culture; to whatever.

The insanity is the wait. Tomorrow never comes. Get started on your business bible today.
